Amboseli Institute marks 15th Graduation with vision for global growth

The Amboseli Institute of Hospitality and Technology celebrated its 15th graduation ceremony on Friday at its Thika campus, marking nearly three decades of shaping Kenya’s hospitality industry.

The event, themed “Rooted in Purpose; Rising  with Intention,” brought together industry leaders, educators and families to celebrate 161 graduates who are set to join the global workforce.

Capwell Industries Ltd. Director Chetan Shah, who was the chief guest, praised the institute for its consistency in producing skilled professionals since its founding in 1996.

“Amboseli Institute carries a powerful mission to empower students with a high-quality, practical education. The over 15,000 alumni serving in hotels, cruise ships and tour firms around the world are a testament to that legacy,” he said.

Mr. Shah encouraged graduates to uphold five key values he attributed to lasting success in business:- respect and humility, hard work and perseverance, integrity and honesty, passion and inspiration and teamwork.

Amboseli Institute Director Hellen Wairimu Kibe announced bold expansion plans, including a fully-fledged online school launching in January 2026 for short professional courses.

“We are intentional about staying ahead of global trends, from AI in hospitality to new training models. We have built a brand that speaks for itself and the next five to ten years will see Amboseli expand, modernise and partner more globally to take our graduates beyond border,” she said.

She emphasised that the institute’s curriculum is continuously reviewed to match industry needs, ensuring graduates remain relevant in a fast-evolving job market.

On his part, the Thika District Business Association Chairman Alfred Wanyoike urged graduates to embrace entrepreneurship.

“You don’t always have to serve as an employee. You can serve as an employer. Use the skills you have gained to start small businesses and create opportunities for others,” he said.

Similarly, Thika Town MP aspirant Juma Hemedi challenged the class of 2025 to rise with purpose and define their generation through leadership, innovation, and service.

“Every generation is given time, work, and purpose. The question for you today is: Will you let this moment pass or will you rise and make it the most defining moment in this country’s history? ” he pose the question.

As Amboseli Institute celebrates 30 years of excellence, its focus remains clear; to blend practical skills, global perspective and ethical leadership. The ceremony closed with a pledge by graduates to uphold the institute’s values of professionalism, integrity and service wherever their careers take them.
