Five suspects arrested for kidnap, victim rescued with visible injuries
Detectives in Kiambu Sub-County have arrested five suspects linked to a daring kidnapping incident in Ruaka, which left a young man nursing injuries after a harrowing ordeal.
The incident unfolded after the victim’s girlfriend attempted to call him, only for an unfamiliar voice to answer. The caller demanded a ransom of Ksh. 500,000 for the man’s safe release, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.
Acting on intelligence, detectives launched a manhunt that led them to Ithanga, where the victim was rescued. He was found with visible injuries and a blood-stained shirt, signaling the brutality he endured at the hands of his abductors.
The suspects, Sydney Ezra Achanda, John Louise Omondi, Enock Sum Cheruyot, Peter Kanini Mwangi and Lucy Sara Muhonja, were later tracked down and arrested near Quickmart Thindigua.
Police also impounded two getaway vehicles, a Suzuki Swift and a Mazda Demio, allegedly used in the crime. A search revealed chilling evidence, including a kitchen knife, ten assorted mobile phones and a tablet.
Investigations further revealed that the suspects had already received Ksh. 68,000 as part of the ransom demand before their arrest.
Kiambu police confirmed that the five are in custody, undergoing interrogation, and will be arraigned in court once processing is complete.
