Police nab bhang worth Sh. 800,000 in Thika.

Police in Thika netted 7 sacks of bhang worth about a million shillings on Monday night after they intercepted a car that was delivering the drug to unknown drug barons in the sprawling Kiandutu slums.

Confirming the incident, Thika West OCPD Paul Kiriki said the police, who were acting on a tip off from members of public, waylaid the supplier as he dropped his cargo.

“My officers spotted a probox offloading some luggage and they approached to check what was transpiring, the driver of the car sensed danger and sped off, leaving behind the 7 bags that had already been offloaded,” said the OCPD.

Kiriki added that the officers were unable to identify the car’s number plate nor the intended recipient but warned that the police were on their trail.

He added that over the last two months, they have been able to arrest very many drug peddlers in Thika even though majority of them were the small peddlers.

“I would like to warn them that their days are numbered and very soon we are going to apprehend even those who have been supplying these drugs,” he said.

He appealed to members of public to keep vigil and always tip the police whenever they noticed any suspicious activities within their areas of residence.
