Kiambu advertises Posts for Municipal Managers, Board Members in new governance structure.

Kiambu County Government has advertised job vacancies for
the positions Municipal Managers and members of the Municipal Boards in each of
its six (6) newly formed municipalities.
This is in line with the Kenyan Support Programme funded by
the World Bank to upgrade towns to municipalities in all the 45 counties.
The programme will see Kiambu, Karuri, Thika, Kikuyu, Limuru
and Ruiru benefit from grants amounting to millions of dollars annually for
institutional and capacity building for their officers on the ground to start
the upgrade. The money will also be used in upgrading amenities to the
standards requirement set by the World Bank.
The World Bank programme, he said, will run up to 2023.
According to an advert by the county, there are 6 positions
up for grabs for the post of Municipal Managers and nine (9) positions for
board membership in each of the municipalities.
Municipal Manager.
The Municipal Manager shall be responsible for implementing
the Municipal Board's decisions. He shall hold office for a contractual term of
three years, which term may be renewed based on performance.
To qualify for this position, one MUST have fulfilled the
following requirements;-
· Is a
Kenyan citizen
·
Holder of a degree from a University recognized in Kenya
· Has
a proven experience of not less than five years in administration or management
either in the public or private sector and
·
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Municipal Board
Members.
Each Municipal Board shall be constituted of nine members
with four vacancies reserved for members of any of the following bodies;-
a) An umbrella body representing professional associations
in the area
b) An association representing the private sector in the
area
c) A cluster representing registered associations of the
informal sector in the area
d) A cluster representing registered neighborhood
associations in the area and
e) An association of urban areas and cities.
The Functions of the Board shall be as stipulated in Section
20 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act.
Requirements for
Appointment as a Board Member:
a) Must be a Kenyan citizen
b) Must either for the last five years been a resident of
the Municipality; or have a permanent
dwelling in the respective municipality
or must have for the last five years been carrying on business in the
respective municipality.

contacts of three referees, academic and professional certificates,
testimonials, national identity card or passport and any other supporting
documents.

both on the cover letter and the envelope.

provided on the first floor Thika Sub-County offices (at the County Public
