Hard times ahead as fuel prices go up again.
Starting tomorrow Sunday July 1 2018, Kenyans will have to
dig deeper into their pockets after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced
a Ksh.3 price increase in the cost of Kerosene.
Kerosene will now retail at Ksh.87.20 in Nairobi.
Petrol and diesel prices will however remain constant as
last reviewed two weeks.
ERC Director General Pavel Oimeke said the move is aimed at
phasing out kerosene as a fuel option which will push consumers to towards
cleaner fuel options.
Alternative fuel sources include solar for lighting and
liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking.
The commission had proposed a price increase in May which
saw Treasury CS Henry Rotich revise excise duty in the Finance Bill 2018.
