Shock as residents discover a decomposing body along Chania River.

Police in Thika are investigating the death of a man whose decomposed body was found

on Thursday lying along Chania River near UTI Estate.

According to a report by Makongeni police, the body had decomposed beyond recognition but documents found in his pockets showed that his name was Simon Weru Wachira, whose place of born is Itiati sub-location, Konyu Location of Nyeri District.

His remains were discovered by residents who notified the area Assistant Chief Simon Waithaka.

Police could not immediately determine the circumstances that led to his demise or how his body got to the scene.

The body was taken to the General Kago Road Funeral Home awaiting postmortem and identification.
