SHUN LEADERS OUT TO DIVIDE KENYANS ON ETHNIC LINES, NYOKABI ADVICES THIKA RESIDENTS.
Kiambu County Member of Parliament Hon. Ann Nyokabi has appealed to Kenyans of all walks of life to unite and shun those who were hell-bent to ensure Kenyans were divided along ethnic lines for their own political expediency. She lamented that it was quite unfortunate that some of our national leaders were inciting their own against certain communities saying that this was a recipe for other skirmishes as the ones witnessed in 2007-08.
She said that all the crazy drama that Kenyans were currently being treated to were just attempts by these leaders to bring down the Jubilee Government. The unrelenting push by the KNUT leadership for more pay to teachers was still part of this scheme, she said.
"I am not opposed to the teachers' pay increase but the current push by Sossion is not genuine. If the government pays the teachers, the rest of the civil servants will join in the pay rise push which will be unsustainable. The opposition is taking advantage of the situation to seek ways to bring down the government," she said.
She appealed to the people of this region to arm themselves with IDs and electors cards which she said was their only hope to guard their government. She advocated for people to start the campaign to acquire national IDs and Electors Cards so that as many people as possible got these vital documents.
Hon. Nyox was speaking at Thika Community Hall Grounds on Thursday where she was a guest at the International Day for the Older Persons Celebrations.
