SH.179m FACELIFT OF THIKA LEVEL 5 HOSPITAL ALMOST COMPLETE .

Thika Level 5 Hospital Medical Superintendent Mr. Jacob Toro has said that the sh.179m facelift of the hospital facilities is in its final stages. When complete, the hospital will boast of an ultra-modern laboratory, dental and renal departments and a modern ICU unit.

Its new renal department is already complete with five dialysis machines to cater for cancer patients while the ICU unit will be complete in a couple of months. Construction of the sh.30m laboratory and dental departments are also expected to be completed very soon.

The hospital has already purchased assorted equipment at a sum of sh.38m. Sh.95m has been budgeted to procure Incubators, Mammography equipment, Digital X-Ray machines, Endoscopy machines as well as Utra-Sound machines.

They have also procured 70 new beds and are in the process of acquiring 190 more beds to replace the old ones.

Ksh.16m has also been set aside to improve on its general outlook. Part of this money has been allocated for the replacement and disposal of its  old asbestos roofs which are known to cause cancer.

The improvement of these facilities is meant to ease congestion within the various units of the institution as well as improving the working conditions of its staff. This will eventually trickle down to enhancing service delivery and increasing the scope of its services. Recently, the hospital managed to get its first skin specialist.

Thika Level 5 Hospital plays hosts to patients from Thika Sub-County along with the neighbouring counties Murang'a, Gatundu Sub-County, Ukambani and Nairobi due to its proximity.
