Three people died while four others are nursing injuries at the Thika Level Five Hospital following a grisly road accident on Kenyatta Road in Thika town.

The 5:30am head on collision accident involved a saloon car that was heading to Thika and a pick-up that was ferrying meat to Makongeni.
A witness, Silas Mutiga said three of the seven passengers who were in the car died on the spot while the driver of the pick-up sustained minor injuries. The car was also carrying luggage.
“I heard a loud bang and on reaching the scene, I found the two vehicles had collided. That’s when we started the rescue mission,” he said.
Area Traffic police base commander Apelles Chacha said their investigations showed that the pick-up did have a speed governor adding the driver will be prosecuted once he recovers.
He warned motorists against tampering with speed governors saying they will face the law.
The area has experienced two accidents in one week. The bodies were taken to General Kago Hospital mortuary.
