THIKA, JUJA TO GET 300 LITTER BINS TO MAINTAIN HYGIENE

Kiambu County Government plans to install over 300 metallic waste bins in Thika and Juja towns to replace the  plastic bins that were pulled down by unknown people sometimes last year. Speaking yesterday while launching the project in Juja Town, Kiambu County Executive for Environment Mrs. Esther Ndirangu said that the two towns were greatly affected by the destruction of the plastic bins. She said that the county government will  install metallic waste bins in all the sub-county headquarters to address the littering problem in the county.
Mrs.Ndirangu said that the metallic bins were not prone to destruction and would therefore help in the maintenance of  hygiene within the county. She noted that there was too much garbage within the towns due to the lack of this very important facility. Most of the people who had been littering the towns cited the lack of bins, thereby giving the county’s garbage collectors a hard time in discharging their duties.

“We have been receiving complaints that there are no litter bins around town and that is why we decided to buy as many bins as we can. We want residents to make good use of them,” added Ndirangu.
“Our environment officers will not spare anyone who will be found littering around town. You cannot have an excuse because the litter bins are well installed now,” she said.
