APPLE's iOS 9 PUBLIC BETA NOW AVAILABLE.

Apple has just launched the public beta version of its next mobile operating system: iOS 9. What that means is that eager fans can get hold of the software early, before the world's most valuable company releases it to the public. The new software offers features like better battery life, an improved Siri and Apple Maps with public transport on it. Usually only app developers are able to access a beta version of the OS, but Apple wants the public to help test it out and report back any issues. The new features of iOS 9, including better battery life thanks to a new low power mode and a proactive Siri that learns your preferences. Apple Maps is also getting a big upgrade as it now includes public transport routes. If you want to get hold of it yourself, you'll need to visit the Apple Beta Software Program page and sign up with your Apple ID. Be warned, because this is effectively unfinished software there may well be bugs that affect the way your iPhone or iPad works. Meanwhile, the public upgrade will be available for free in the autumn - although Apple hasn't given a specific date yet.
