KDF starts upgrading Gatundu-Munyu Road in Landless, to extend the same to Makongeni and Kiganjo areas
The Kenya Army Corps of Engineers, led by Combat Engineers Brigade Commander Brigadier Victor Mburu and Construction Engineers Brigade Commander Brigadier Joseph Mutua, has launched the construction of the Gatundu-Munyu Road in Kamagambo (Landless), within Thika Town Constituency.
This initiative is part of the Kenya Defence Forces’ (KDF) Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects, aimed at giving back to the community in preparation for KDF Day, set to be observed on 14th October 2024.
The project will include murram layering, drainage installation, and paving of approximately 2.5 kilometers of road, stretching from the Thika-Garissa Highway to Mountain View Phase Two.
The community, that neighbours the barracks, has suffered for quite a long time due to the poor road conditions.
The Commanders committed to ensuring the road’s timely and high-quality completion, also revealing plans for future projects in Makongeni and Kiganjo areas in Thika.
Key officials present at the launch included Deputy Brigade Commanders Col Andrew Kapkomoi and Col Maurice Wasomi, Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) representative Stanley Kang’ethe, and local leadership representatives.
