Aspirant makes a first in Thika as the August 9 race hots up
As the race for the August 9 General Elections hots up, aspirants for various political seats have started applying all manner of tactics to make their presence felt by the electorate. One man who has broken ranks is Makongeni-based businessman Samuel Kiragu Chege popularly knows as MC Sam who earlier this week unveiled a promotional Billboard on top of Makongeni Post Office.
This is a first in Thika where an aspirant for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) has ever done so as residents are used to billboard with portraits of presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial and Parliamentary candidates.
The imposing Canvas bears his Names and his intention to run in 2022 for Kamenu Ward seat on a UDA Ticket.
This is the Second time Sam is trying to represent Kamenu Ward in Kiambu County Assembly, having tried before in 2017 where he was ranked 2nd out of 17 candidates with 5,300 Votes.
The aspirant has been doing various activities since then, such as renovating 23 bodaboda sheds and repairing and upgrading existing bodaboda waiting points, most of which were falling apart after years of neglect.
Recently, he also renovated Madaraka Market stalls committee office, besides supporting many local secondary school students with school fees through his Sam K. Chege Foundation.
Sam has also started a 4-months Football League since January 9th, which concludes in April 10th this year. Twenty Five (25) teams belonging to the seniors category are playing every Sunday at Kenyatta Primary Grounds, Kang'oki grounds and Mt. View School (Landless).
