Thika Queens Coach gets national appointment

Thika Queens Football Club coach Benta Achieng has been selected as the Kenya Women National Soccer Team Harambee Starlets assistant coach, to deputise Former Vihiga Queens tactician Alex Alumirah who will be taking over as Head coach.

Achieng will deputise alongside Mathare Women FC’s headcoach Ann Aluoch. Martha Karimi will serve as the new Team Manager.

Alumirah who had left Vihiga for Tanzania at the close of last season, will be on a contract until the end of the caretaker committee’s mandate.

Alumirah takes over from Charles Okere who had been appointed by the ousted Federation last year.

These appointments at a time when the Harambee Starlets are bracing for their do or die home and away Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) 2022 qualification clash against neighbors Uganda. The winner of this clash will qualify for the AWCON 2022 which will be held in Morocco.

The Starlets will be entering camp on Tuesday (today) ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations match against rivals Uganda. Kenya will host the first leg of the contest which is scheduled for February 14.
