MP condoles the family of two boys killed in Kenol skirmishes

Thika Town MP Eng. Patrick Wainaina has condoled with the families of the two young boys who lost their lives in Kenol town Murang'a during the political skirmishes that occurred on Sunday 4th October 2020.

While speaking at the Thika's NG-CDF offices where he conducted a workshop to over 200 small and medium enterprise traders on the importance of Saccos, the legislator urged political leaders to empower the youth with financial management and investment skills instead of misusing them through handouts that were never sustainable.

Peter Mbothu (15) from Kiang'ombe and Christopher Kariuki (21) from Kiandutu slums died on Sunday when two opposing political divides clashed in Kenol Murang'a.

The MP blamed poverty and unemployment for the predicament facing the youth, a situation that was now being exploited by politicians to intimidate their rivals. He also pointed out that such activities bled a culture of lawlessness among the youth and also triggered criminality and drug abuse.

On his part, Thika West Deputy County Commissioner, Mbogo Mathioya urged the youth to desist from activities that put their lives at risk. He promised to ensure justice for the deceased was served.

Mathioya also warned of tough action on any public service vehicle found ferrying youth to such illegal activities saying the owners and their crew of such buses would face the full force of the law.

Kamenu Ward bodaboda operators chairman James Mburu urged his fellow youth not to fall into the trap of being misused by leaders who don't care about them.

The bodaboda operators who benefited from the training thanked the MP and his Jungle foundation challenging other leaders to emulate him.
