Traders’ boost as “pathetic” road is tarmacked after years of agony.

It was all smiles at Madaraka Market in Makongeni as the road linking the market with both Thika-Garissa and the BAT-Kiganjo roads was tarmacked for the first time in its history.
This part of the road has been a thorn in the flesh for the traders especially during the rainy season when it gets at times impassible.
Speaking during the launch of the project, area MP Eng. Patrick Wainaina who spearheaded the implementation of this project said that his administration was geared towards enhancing business environment through projects such as roads, electricity and provision of water.
He added that he would knock every door in government to ensure all major link roads within the constituency were tarmacked so as to open up every part of Thika to development through eased means of transport.
Wainaina hit out at politicians who were still engaging in premature 2022 elections campaigns saying this was time to deliver on their 2017 election pledges.

The construction of this road is going hand in hand with the BAT-Kiganjo Corner 1 Road which has been a big predicament for Kiganjo residents for the last 6 years due to its poor state.

Las year, Thika has also seen the completion of the Engen-Kiganjo Corner 4 and the Broadway-Athena roads which will eventually be linked together to help ease traffic congestion along the major Thika-Garissa Road.
