Man nabbed with 150 rolls of Bhang in Umoja.
Police in Thika have arrested
one suspect and seize 150 rolls of bhang with a street value of 10,000
shillings.
The suspect, James Kamau, was nabbed at Umoja estate during
a crackdown on narcotic drugs and illicit brews in an operation by officers
drawn from Makongeni Police Station.
Confirming the arrest, Thika OCPD Willy Simba acknowledged
that the public had tipped-off the police making the arrest of the suspect
possible.
“Police officers on a tip off from members of the public
raided house at Umoja estate on Tuesday and after a search they managed to net
150 rolls of bhang with a street value of Ksh. 10,000 and arrested one
suspected," said Simba.
Simba said drug trafficking remains a major headache for
security officers in Thika adding that police will not rest until the region is
drug-free. He noted that police have intensified patrols and crackdowns in all drug dens within the town and appealed for cooperation from public
in war on drugs.
The OCPD added that suspect will be arraigned in court on
Wednesday on charges of handling and selling illicit drug.
