United FC is holding a 3-day trials for possible new signing beginning today
the 4th January 2018 in their BAT training grounds.
According to their
official website, Head coach Nicholas Muyoti has specified that his
technical bench will only set out to strengthen two areas striking and
defending.
“We mainly suffered in our finishing in our previous season
and we have invited a number of players who will try out with us for a few days
then make our decisions. We are seeking to strengthen our defense since two or
three defenders will be leaving us,” said Muyoti.
He clarified that the Milkmen are not open to any player
wishing to join them but will give a chance to only those for trials due to the
limited period ahead.
“We plan to work with a manageable number of 26 to 27
players next season.”
Thika United is expected to sign in about six new players with
about an equivalent number expected to leave.
Thika United survived in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) this
season by a whisker having finished at position 16 and forcing a nail biting
playoffs with Ushuru FC to secure a place in the 2018 edition.
The KPL 2018 season is scheduled to kick off in first
weekend of February 2nd 2018, with Thika United slated to host
Kakamega Homeboyz on Monday 5th February, in their first match at
Thika Sub-County Stadium.
