Primary School Teacher Commits Suicide In Makongeni.
Police in Thika have retrieved a body of a 48-year old Primary School
teacher after he allegedly committed suicide in his house in Makongeni
area.
According to the Thika west OCPD Erastus Muthamia, David Mbuthia a teacher at Gitiri Primary School in Thika was found hanging in his bathroom with a rope on his neck.
Muthamia said that the neighbors reported the incident to the area chief after they noticed the deceased hadn’t woken up early as usual to report to his teaching duty. They knocked his door severally in vain.
“We got the report from the area chief Daniel Waiguru who had been called by the neighbors after they noticed the deceased wasn’t awake as he usually does. We retrieved the body to the morgue,” Muthamia told the press from his office.
The OCPD also noted that his officers visited the scene and retrieved the body adding that investigations to reveal what pushed the deceased to commit suicide have been launched.
He confirmed that recently, there have been increased incidences of suicide in the area linking the incidences to hard economic constraints, family conflicts among others.
“These suicide cases have been numerous recently and we suspect it could be due to financial challenges and other family problems,” he added.
The deceased body was taken to Thika General Kago funeral home awaiting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, a middle-aged man was this morning crashed to death by a truck along Thika-Garissa Road near Makongeni Police Station. According to eyewitnesses, his death might have been a case of deliberate suicide as he is said to have threatened to commit suicide some few minutes ago.
"He was arguing with his driver over some keys and after sometime threatened to commit suicide. a few minutes later, we found him lying on the road lifeless with his head crushed by a truck," said one eyewitness.
Details of this death are still very scanty.
