MP Calls For The Arrest Of Land Fraudster Who Sold Land Belonging To Widow.
Juja Member of Parliament Francis Waititu has called for the
immediate arrest of a Ruiru land agent who fraudulently sold a 20 acre
piece of land belonging to a widow in Murera Estate. The MP said
despite the matter being reported to the police, the suspect is still
after ignoring summons to record a statement at Juja CID headquarters.
“I wonder whether the DCIO David Chebii who was recently posted to Juja from Ruiru has been compromised otherwise how someone can fail to obey police summons.” questioned the MP who gave police 14 days to arrest the land dealer or he will petition the mater to parliament
The MP noted that the high demand for land in the constituency had attracted a cartel of corrupt individuals who collaborated with Ministry of Land officials to steal land from unsuspecting owners. He called on land buying companies to secure shareholders’ interests and called on the police to take action against land grabbers.
Waititu was addressing members of Uhuru Welfare Association at Juja Deliverance Church Hall on Saturday where 100 members were issued with title deeds for the association’s plots in Juja Farm.
The Association General Secretary Bishop Benson Karanja called
on members to clear survey fees balances to enable the association
survey remaining portions so that members can be issued with title deeds. He
said the association which was formed by 3,000 low income earners in 1999
has purchased 18 parcels’ of land in Kiambu and Nakuru counties for its
members and so far 500 members have been settled and issues with title
deeds.
Speaking to our reporter on phone, the Juja DCIO denied issuing
summons to any lad dealer as alleged by the MP. Chebii said he was not
aware of the matter of the alleged grabbed piece of land.
