WAITITU, ALICE SUE KABOGO OVER MADARAKA MARKET ARSON

Kabete MP Hon. Ferdinand Waititu and and his Thika Town counterpart Hon. Alice Wambui Ng'ang'a  have sued the Kiambu County Government over the Madaraka market arson. They want Governor William Kabogo to record statements with police over the November 22 incident in Makongeni, Thika town.

They also want Kabogo and his government be restrained from evicting the more than 5,000 traders from the market.

Justice Isaac Lenaola on Friday directed them to serve Kabogo with suit papers and appear in court on Monday next week.

Madaraka traders allege that about 200 hired goons in blue aprons raided the market at 2am and poured petrol on their goods before setting them on fire. Millions of foodstuffs and other wares were destroyed by the fire.

They claimed that these attackers were ferried in more than eight vehicles whose number plates were hidden.
The incident allegedly occurred under the watch of police and county askaris in what the traders claimed was a ploy by the government for their eviction.
