Elderly,Persons with Disability,Orphans register for funds.

The elderly,persons with disability and orphans within Biashara Location,Thika Sub County today turned up to register for the Cash Transfer Funds programme.

The mid morning baraza held at the Starehe Grounds on Thursday 10th August 2015 was organised by the area chiefs  together with officials from Ministry of Labour Social Security and Services,department of social and development with an aim of sensitizing the above mentioned categories on the criteria used to select them for the disbursement of the funds.

Speaking to Thika Town Today Mr.Henry Nzioki an elderly resident from Jamhuri Estate said,"I hope to utilise the funds received from this initiative to buy medicine for my medical condition and I thank the government for considering us in such needy times,".

The Cash Transfer Fund is a government led initiative to ensure that the elderly,persons with disability and orphans receive financial assistance to improve their social and economic welfare by receiving Kes 2,000 per month.

"This programme has addressed the needs of the most severe cases in almost all villages within Thika Town Constituency,and it is our hope that the beneficiaries will utilise the cash received from the fund to improve their social welfare," said Mr. Simon Mwanza the Community Development Assistant Thika Town Constituency.
