NINE DIE IN THIKA ACCIDENTS TO GLOOM MKU COLOURFUL CEREMONY
According to eye witnesses who we found at the scene of the accident, the bus was speeding towards Thika Town after avoiding the traffic snarl up at Ngoingwa flyover due to the MKU graduation,tryng to overtake another vehicle when the saloon car heading to the Gatanga exit appeared from behind. In the confusion, it hit the bus from behind, forcing it to veer off the road and land on its side.
Meanwhile, one person has been confirmed dead and
seven others seriously injured in an accident that occurred near
Makongeni Police Station this morning.
According
to the Thika traffic base commander Apelles Chacha, police took more
than an hour to get to the accident scene due to traffic congestion that had resulted from the Mount Kenya University's graduation ceremony.
It is said that a speeding lorry from Makongeni heading towards to Thika Town lost control near the Ananas Shopping
Mall before hitting several vehicles. Makongeni residents rushed to the scene to help rescue the injured by retrieving them from the vehicles.
The accident caused heavy traffic jam from the Gatitu Junction all the
way to Landless estate. Accessing Thika Town this morning was a nightmare.
