Meanwhile, one person has been confirmed dead and seven others seriously injured in an accident that occurred near Makongeni Police Station this morning.
According to the Thika traffic base commander Apelles Chacha, police took more than an hour to get to the accident scene due to traffic congestion that had resulted from the Mount Kenya University's graduation ceremony.
It is said that a speeding lorry from Makongeni heading towards to Thika Town lost control near the Ananas Shopping Mall before hitting several vehicles. Makongeni residents rushed to the scene to help rescue the injured by retrieving them from the vehicles.

The accident caused heavy traffic jam from the Gatitu Junction all the way to Landless estate. Accessing Thika Town this morning was a nightmare.
