EMBRACE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, THIKA WOMEN CHALLENGED
Thika Town MP Alice Nga'ng'a has
challenged women to rise to the occasion and take their place in the
entrepreneurial sector. Ms. Ng'ang'a was echoing US President Barack
Obama's sentiments that women were a key element in driving the global
economy, said that women have indeed proven that they can able to turn
around the world economy.
"President Obama has spoken
enough about how women can no longer be sidelined in moving forward their
country's economy. That is a major endorsement for us. He also brought us a
raft of women programs and it is now upon us to take advantage of them,"
said Ng'ang'a.
Speaking at a local church in
Kimunyu, Gatuanyaga on Sunday after attending Obama's address to the nation in
Kasarani, the MP said that women received a big shot in the arm after Obama
announced a Sh100 billion for entrepreneurial activities to be shared between
them and youths.
She however urged women to come up
with creative ideas and initiatives so that they can attract funding.
"Do not just think about what
everyone else is doing. Be different and unique and things will work out for
you," she said.
