KDF KILL 7 AL SHABAB MILLITANTS
KDF yesterday killed several of Al Shabaab militants in a fierce battle
at Elade, Somalia, where one Kenyan soldier was also killed.
Speaking yesterday, KDF Spokesman, Colonel David Obonyo, confirmed the deaths saying 7 Al Shabaab terrorists were killed by KDF. He noted that the Kenyan troops operating under AMISOM were on patrol when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Longolei Town. A gun battle ensued thereafter and 7 militants were killed as well as one KDF soldier.
KDF recovered 8 AK-47 rifles, several grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
The incident comes barely 10 days to an anticipated visit by US President Barrack Obama, who is expected in the country on 24th of this month.
Obonyo alluded that an increase in Al Shabaab attacks may be because of Obama’s visit, saying the militants were doing everything possible to spoil the US President’s tour of his father’s country, Kenya.
However, he vowed that KDF will deal with them squarely to ensure Obama’s visit becomes a success.
