The Confucius Institute Brings Chinese Language to Thika.

The Confucius Institute of University Nairobi has entered into collaboration with Africana College in a bid to offer Chinese language classes at an affordable price.

Speaking at I.P.C.C  offices  in Thika after paying a courtesy call on Africana College Director Dr. Susan  Gitau on Friday afternoon, Prof. Xiao Shan the Director of the Confucius Institute of University Nairobi welcomed the partnership and encouraged learners to enrol for Chinese classes at Africana College as way of improving their competency in language  and broadening their chances for employment.

“ We are looking forward to better cooperation between the two institutions and we would like to encourage learners to enrol for these classes, and urge them to study Chinese language because these competence will give them various opportunities to work in Chinese owned companies as translators, teachers.” she said.

On her part Africana College Director Dr. Susan Gitau welcomed the idea of partnering with Confucius Institute and called upon residents of Thika town and its environs to enrol for classes.

“ We welcome the idea of streamlining the curriculum and lowering the fees from 60,000kes per term to 25,000kes this will provide an opportunity for more students to enrol, as well as will give the college an opportunity for us to offer Chinese language classes as well as guidance and counselling mentorship  for the our learners ,” said Dr. Susan Gitau. 

The Confucius Institute of University Nairobi together with Africana College of Professionals will also be recruiting student delegates for the annual student delegate cultural educational tour to China slated for June 2018 interested delegates must have undertaken or is currently enrolled at Chinese Language at the College, under 35, Valid Kenya Passport, and Multi-Cultural Competency is a must.

"We are also calling on those who might be interested in touring China in June for the annual student delegate cultural educational tour to China slated for June 2018 to get in touch with us as soon as possible because we have limited slots unlike previous years," she further said.

Africana College shall be offering regular, weekends and school based programmes to their learners.
