Details of how SK Macharia’s son died revealed.


John Macharia, the son to Kenyan media mogul SK Macharia, is dead.

John died on last night at the Karen Hospital where he had been rushed after a freak crash along the Southern Bypass.


The young Macharia was cruising the 911 Turbo S 2016 car worth Sh30 million when he crashed into another vehicle..

A female passenger who was with him, however, escaped unscathed.

Karen police boss Cunningham Suiyanka confirmed that there was a crash at 10pm on the Southern Bypass. He said one person died but declined to give further details.

This is the same vehicle was involved in an an accident along Waiyaki Way in November 2016. He was later arrested and charged with drink driving.

Police arrested him for drunk driving and was charged before a Nairobi traffic court after failing to follow a traffic officer's order to blow into a breathalyser.

He pleaded guilty through his lawyer Ian Maina.

Maina said his client was remorseful for his actions and indeed would not repeat the offence.

Over the years, Mr. John Macharia has also built one of the most successful Public Service Vehicle underwriters, Directline Assurance Limited in which to date he serves as an Executive Director.
Mr. Macharia is an Executive Director at Harbour Capital with over 20Yrs experience in the financial services sector.
