Residents decry escalating insecurity.

Residents of Witeithie Estate in Juja  have decried escalation of insecurity in the area where attacks from a group of marauding thugs is on the increase.

They claim that the criminals usually waylay them as they head home at night a situation that has worsened with the onset of the festive season.

The latest of these attacks happened on Saturday morning where a truck driver and his turnboy were injured before being robbed of valuables of unknown value.

Zachary Mugo (Kairitu) and his turnboy, John Njenga had just parked their lorry when they were intercepted by for thugs armed with crude weapons.

The victims were beaten ruthlessly before they were robbed off cash and other items including shoes. Their attackers then fled after the victims raised alarm attracting the attention of patrons from a nearby pub.

Patrons and residents have been complaining that thugs have been frequenting the bar disguising as revelers while indeed stalking at their preys.

Recently a contingent of police officers raided the estate to flush out thugs who had snatched a bag containing sh. 30,000 belonging to a lady cop. During the operation innocent people were allegedly beaten and robbed.

Businessmen were forced to be closing business by 6pm before the intervention of their MP Francis Munyua Waititu.

Area DCC promised to investigate the matter and take action against rogue cops.
