2.3 TRILLION SHILLINGS BUDGET SET TO BE TABLED IN PARLIAMENT TODAY

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich is expected to table in parliament a 2.3 trillion shillings budget for the 2016/17 financial year. 
The budget is expected to prioritize on security, infrastructure, agriculture, health care, devolution and reforming the public sector.
According to figure released by the state 12.2 billion shillings is set to be allocated to ongoing irrigation projects and transforming the agriculture sector.
Whereas 5.1 Billion shillings will be allocated to rural electrification programme whilst 32 billion shillings is set to be allocated for the free day secondary education and 14 billion shillings for the free primary education programme.
The 2016/17 budget comes at a time when concerns have been raised over sustainability of accrued debt. public debt to GDP ratio is pegged at 48.3 percent.
