EIGHT INMATES 'PRISON BREAK' FROM THIKA MAIN PRISON COURTESY OF #KrisiiNaWafungwa.

The 22nd of December 2015 will always a day to remember for eight inmates of GK Thika Men Prison who managed that rare 'Prison Break', thanks to the kind hearts of the Organisors of #KrisiiNaWafungwa initiative.

The eight were petty offenders who had found themselves either in remand or in jail for not having moneyto pay their fines or bonds.

A group of well wishers from Thika Town led by Madam Susan Gitau and Cess Ochol had organised a Christmas treat for the inmates, to just share the little they and their friends could raise in order to share with the inmates. They invited several guests who included the area MCA Hon. Mwangi Wamwangi and Nominated MCA Flozie Ngeru.

It was during those fine moments that they  had with these prisoners that they felt that it would be so fine to extend their Christmas gesture to paying their bails and fines to enable them go home and enjoy this year's Christmas with their families and friends.

Cess Ochol, Madam Susan Gitau, DJ Mmarik and Hons. J BEE and Flozie all made personal contributions to ensure the eight regained their freedom.

Among those freed was Eric Omondi who was detained because of lacking relative to sign his free bond. His father lives in Kisumu and had noone to tell him (father) of the son's fate. Madam Susan Gitau offered to sign his papers o behalf of the relatives who were yet to know of the whereabouts of their son.

Another beneficiary of this kind gesture was Isaiah Mugo who was remanded for lack of sh4,000 and another old man nicknamed  Kofi Anaan.

While speaking to them Hon. Wamwangi urged them to avoid the crimes that landed them in jail in the first place and put into practice the skills they learned during their incarceration. He added that himself and his colleague were ready to work around the clock to ensure that every prisoner who qualify for release was afforded one.He promised to mobilize the Governor of Kiambu Hon. William Kabogo to come and bail them out during the next visit which was scheduled for the 31st of this Month.
