A FAMILY IN THIKA SEEKING JUSTICE FOR RAPED DAUGHTER

A Standard one 8-year old pupil from Makutano Shopping Centre, Kilimambogo in Thika East Sub-County is seeking for justice after she was raped by a shopkeeper in the area two weeks ago. The girl is said to have been attacked when her friends left her drinking water that had been offered to them by a certain Wambua at his kiosk.

The kids were on their way home from school when they decided to quench their thirst from his kiosk, as it was their habit. It is alleged that when Wambua was left alone with the girl, he dragged her into a nearby bush, raped her and later warned her that he would kill, her plus her family members, if she ever dared to narrate that ordeal to anyone.

On the 9th of October this year, her mother got alarmed after noticing some blood stains on the daughter's school dress. On interrogating the girl, she identified Wambua as her attacker. They went to his kiosk to confront him, but on arrival, the girl refused to open up when the man appeared. She only looked at him and cried.

The family then went to Makutano Police Post, obtained the P3 form and later took her to Ngoliba Health Centre where they were referred to Thika Level 5 Hospital. After some medical check up, the doctor confirmed the rape and prepared a report on the same.

Since then, the family has been seeking justice for their daughter with nothing much to show for. Police in Makutano Police Post still claim that investigations are still on going.
