World Humanitarian Day 2015

Thika Town Today joins the World in celebrating World Humanitarian Day a day set aside by United Nations to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others. The day was designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. 

World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the globe.
This year, the Theme is: Inspiring the World's Humanity. It calls on us to join any of the world’s humanitarian
organizations and become an active messenger of Humanity.

The first day of action will be is today 19th August: World Humanitarian Day.

This is a day to celebrate humanitarians around the world. In an effort to build a global sense of momentum, the UN calls on Messengers of Humanity to take an important social action on this day and share them on social networks to amplify the message.
