THE 2nd THIKA EDUCATION TRUST FUND FUNDRAISER SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER THIS YEAR

The second edition of the Thika Education Trust Fund (THETFU), a flagship project in aid of  Post-Secondary Education Bursaries, to benefit poor, needy and bright students, will be held this October. The fund was started by Thika Town MP in partnership with the private sector to supplement CDF Bursaries in the constituency.

Speaking at the Thika Sub-County Stadium when disbursing CDF Bursary cheques to those students who missed out on the first bunch due to some technical error over the weekend, area MP, who is also its patron said that the kitty targeted Ksh.100 million to ensure students will be educated and mentored.

In the last edition which was also the launch, Sh20 million was realised. So far since the launch of THETFU in August 2014 the committee has already awarded bursaries to 274 students from the constituency. The students who receive bursaries go through a rigorous selection process to ensure only those who are deserving benefit from the program.

The money was raised in August in an event attended by Deputy President William Ruto.
