Witeithie MCA calming down a section of irate Maraba youths.

Trouble is brewing between the residents of Maraba in Juja Sub-County and their area MP MP Francis Munyua alias Wakapee over a controversial piece of land measuring 32 acres. The bone of contention is a secondary school project being spearheaded by the MP which the residents accuse him of using it as a ploy to grab the land.

On Monday, it took Witeithie MCA Peter Muiruri's intervention to calm the protesting public who were marching towards the Thika superhighway heading to the MP’s office. The MCA assured them that no construction will go on without the involvement of residents.to the streets over the construction of the first secondary school in the area’s common land.

The residents allege that the MP has been working closely with some ill-intentioned village elders from the area behind their backs, claiming that they were not consulted over the development. Furthermore, they claim that the land was set aside after an agreement between landowners in the area to ensure there was separation between government and public land. They said that there should have been some consultation before any construction is set on the ground.

Later last evening, Munyua refuted these claims adding that he would not relent in the construction of the institution since there must be a common land that should be used by the government. He called on his constituents to keep off politics in the school construction saying that he is aware of the incitement that has been ongoing in the area.
