FORM SELF HELP GROUPS, EXPLOIT UWEZO/YOUTH FUNDS, KIAMBU YOUTH URGED

Youths in Kiambu have been urged to come up with income generating ideas and form self-help groups.
Speaking on Friday at his office, Kiambu ward administrator, Mr Antony Kibali said that most youths tend to down grade other income generating ventures such as setting up retail shops and instead look for white color jobs which are scarce. Kibali said the county government of Kiambu had enacted policies which make it easier for youths especially those in self-help groups to start businesses.
"For one to open up a retail shop of at least four employees, they will be required to pay a maximum of Sh4,000 to the county government," said Kibali.
The administrator advised youths to invest in self-help groups in order to reduce the cost of setting up various businesses.
“Most youths after graduating tend to focus on finding white collar jobs which are scarce and end up being unemployed, instead of joining self help groups and pursuing various income generating ventures while looking for the white collar jobs,” said Kiabali,
Kibali also said that there is a ready market urging the youth to set up retail shops and join the juakali sector as they were lucrative ventures.
He said that youth use unemployment as an excuse to indulge in alcohol yet there are lucrative business ventures that have not been exploited.
Kibali urged the youth to obtain licenses for their business ventures in order for the stake holders to benefit from initiatives like Youth fund and Uwezo Fund.
