20 MILLION LIGHTING PROJECT LAUNCHED IN WITEITHIE


Residents of Witeithie Ward were overwhelmed with joy following the installation of five floodlights in a bid to curb insecurity in the area. The project is estimated to cost Sh20 million was lauded by the residents and security personnel in the area saying that it would play a very bis role in the fight against insecurity. The project which was initiated by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo in February will be completed by September as there are still five more floodlights to be installed.

Speaking on Wednesday, area MCA Peter Muiriru said, "The rate of crime had gone up as criminals were taking advantage of the darkness but the residents can now be at ease as the floodlights will make it easy to spot criminals."

Witeithie Administration Police boss, Sergeant James Linguli said the installation of the floodlights would ease police patrols by his officers. He promised to partner with the residents in arresting known criminals in the area in a move to secure the public.
