Veteran Kenyan actor, Mzee Ojwang, who is popular for his role inVitimbiprogramme, is dead. Mzee Ojwang died on Sunday evening after succumbing to pneumonia while under-going treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. On March this year, the celebrated actor suffered from partial blindness that nearly made him go blind. However, philanthropic Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, came to his rescue and he was admitted at Loresho Hospital where he underwent a successful eye surgery. Despite his great service to the nation, Ojwang had been living in abject poverty at a low-end city estate. Before his death, Ojwang had been depending on well-wishers for survival and he sometimes went to bed hungry. May his soul rest in peace.
