SAFCOM INTRODUCES NEW POST-PAY TARRIFF

Safaricom has introduced a new post-pay tariff offering bundled voice, SMS and Data services at a monthly cost of between 3,000 shillings and 10,000 shillings. The “Advantage Plus” is in response to growing demand for post pay tariff among subscribers. It offers a choice of three price points comprising 2,999 shillings monthly, 4,999 monthly and 9,999 monthly.

 The introduction of Advantage Plus seeks to supplement the Karibu PostPay bundle scheme introduced in October 2011, which saw the number of Safaricom subscribers on the PostPay tariffs increase to over 700,000 by December 2014. Under the new terms of the Karibu postpay tariff all monthly bundles expire end month as opposed to the previous arrangement where unused bundles were rolled over.

 Subscribers will be able to sign up for the service using their phones, without needing to go into a retail outlet by dialing *100# from their PrePay lines or *200# from their PostPay lines to subscribe to the new Advantage Plus tariff.

 The new offering intends to take advantage of the increasing demand for blended offerings that span across voice and data. However, bundles on the new tariff will be available on a 30-day basis with no roll-over of resources.
